Relief and loans worth Rs. 7 lakh given to villagers in Ariyalur

ARIYALUR: The district administration distributed benefits worth seven lakh rupees under different government schemes to villagers of Periyavalayam in Udayarpalayam taluk during a special mass contact programme on Wednesday.
Handing over land patta documents and distributing benefits under schemes such as accident relief, loan subsidy for women self-help groups, Moovalur Ramamirtham Marriage Scheme for Women, and Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, Collector R. Sudalaikannan assured to fulfil the requirements of the villagers.
He informed that steps would be taken to strengthen the 15-km stretch between the village and Paloor under the NABARD scheme, and that the need for operating town buses from Jayankondam to the village would also be considered.
Though government guidelines permit distribution of relief for agriculturists only if the crop damage is beyond 50 per cent, their requests for extending the same for lesser extent of damage would be forwarded to the Government, he said, and assured that the village would be covered under the plan of action of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board to rectify drinking water shortage. Senior officials including District Revenue Officer K. Pulamadan, Project Officer of District Rural Development Agency and representatives of local bodies took part in the programme.
