New getup: Telugu actor Raja at Mane’a after inaugurating it in Vijayawada on Wednesday. — VIJAYAWADA: “Six packs keep me in good health. It also helps me retain my position in tinsel world,” says Telugu actor Raja, who became the heartthrob of girls following the success of Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Anand’. Relaxing in front of a mirror at ‘mane’a – the salon’ that he inaugurated at NTR Circle on Wednesday, Raja spoke about his latest obsession with toning his muscles, his forthcoming movies and his future plans. Clad in faded jeans and black-coloured shirt, he appeared in an altogether new getup. Latest fad“I’m not aping anyone to keep myself fit. Six-pack body is the trend that is fast catching up in the Telugu film industry too. You know, many of my heroines were pleasantly surprised to see me in this new getup and they said they loved it,” he said, admiring his curved muscles. As it has been quite a long time since he was last seen on silver screen in ‘Mister Medhavi’, reporters were keen on knowing whether he was busy with films in other languages. “I have done one Tamil film and I’m very happy about it. But, right now my focus is only on Telugu films and at this moment I’m working simultaneously on three projects of new production houses,” he explained. Even as he was happy about the rave reviews he got for his performance in ‘Mister Medhavi,’ Raja was also candid about the fact that the film had not done well at the box office. “We put the same kind of effort for all movies. But several factors are involved in the success or failure of a film,” he pointed out. Style guruAsked about what prompted him to come all the way to the city to inaugurate a salon, Raja said, “mane’a is my stylist in Hyderabad, where I keep myself fit at least five days a week. Many film stars keep visiting it in Hyderabad. Since they are the masters of style, I’ve no hassles promoting this salon. “Moreover, Paris-based L’Oreal is also associated with mane’a and it won international acclaim for its quality of services.” Managing director of mane’a Padmini Raja, creative director Sachin Dakoji, business development manager Raja Velu, and L’Oreal’s regional manager Ch. Hari Prasad were present.
