‘Appoint Collector’

TIRUPUR: The Tirupur Exporters Association has asked the Chief Minister to take necessary steps to appoint a Collector and Police Commissioner in the city.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi, the association president, A. Sakthivel, on Wednesday said that an IPS officer should be posted as Tirupur Commissioner to effectively control the growing incidents of anti-social activities in the city.

Increase in floating population and migration was resulting in law and order problems, he said.

Mr. Sakthivel said that the early formation of the district would help the city get necessary facilities.
