PUDUCHERRY: The government’s decision to cancel the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to the professional colleges will be implemented in the coming academic year itself. Shortly after meeting Lieutenant Governor Bhopinder Singh at Raj Nivas, Chief Minister N.Rangasamy told reporters that the G.O. in this regard would be issued on Wednesday night. The Lt. Governor had given his approval for cancelling the CET and signed the G.O., he said. Mr.Rangasamy, along with Speaker R.Radhakrishnan and five Ministers, attended the tea hosted by the Lt.Governor. Noisy scenesNoisy scenes were witnessed in the Assembly with members belonging to the Opposition parties including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the Pattali Makkal Katchi and the Communist Party of India protesting against the delay in clearing the proposal for cancelling the CET for admissions to the professional colleges.
