Kashempur has represented the segment earlier

BIDAR: The former Minister Bandeppa Kashempur on Wednesday said that the presence of Naseemoddin Patel, the Bahujan Samaj Party candidate for Bidar South constituency, in the electoral fray would not affect his prospects.

Mr. Kashempur is the Janata Dal (Secular) candidate for the constituency.

Mr. Kashempur told The Hindu that there were 52 villages in the constituency which he had represented in the last Assembly, and he was well known in the villages. “My native village Kashempur is in the constituency,” he added.

Only, a few villages from Nirna and Bemelkheda circles had been added to the constituency from Humnabad taluk after delimitation of constituencies, he said.

Mr. Naseemoddin Patel represents Bagdal in the Bidar Zilla Panchayat, which was a stronghold of the JD(S), he said and added that voters, workers and leaders were with the party.

Mr. Naseemoddin Patel is the brother of JD(S) leader Merajuddin Patel.
