Srikakulam
Srikakulam: Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao on Wednesday claimed that his Government had not only fulfilled its promises made in the party’s manifesto but also had taken up many welfare measures which were not mentioned in the manifesto. Speaking to media persons on the occasion of completion of four years of his Government, at the Indira Vigna Bhavan here, the Minister rolled out statistics and other details – irrigation projects, free power supply, issue of ration cards, pensions etc – to support his claim. The State with 10.30 GDP growth stood first among all States in development. There was record production of foodgrains which is 183 lakh MTs. This had enabled the Government to launch the Rs.2 a kg scheme which would ensure food security to the poor. Special featureA special feature for Srikakulam district had been the sanction of Vamsadhara,Thotapalli and Madduvalasa irrigation projects and sanction of Rs.300 crore for flood blanks to Vamsadhara and Nagavali rivers. Once these projects were completed, Srikakulam district would be on par with other agriculturally developed districts like East Godavari and West Godavari. The long cherished dreams of people of theses parts, viz Medical College and University had also materialised during the Ciongress regime, the Minister said.
