Happy helpers: Pawan Kalyan fans help the youth get into a car in Karimnagar on Wednesday. KARIMNAGAR: In a human gesture, the fans of film star Pawan Kalyan rescued a mentally retarded person and gave him a new lease of life by providing him necessary medical assistance in Karimnagar town on Wednesday. Azar (28) was abandoned by his parents in Karimnagar town because of his mental illness. The parents migrated to Jagtial without any concern for the mentally ill son. This deranged youth started beating children and passers-by with stones, abusing them with filthy language and generally creating public nuisance. The fans of Pawan Kalyan happened to see the youth in total disarray without proper clothes on his body and in poor health. As part of the common man protection force constituted by film star Pawan Kalyan, the fans cajoled the youth bathed him and persuaded him to put on fresh pair of clothes. Later, they took the youth to the mental asylum in Hyderabad for treatment. Pawan Kalyan Fans Association district president Mohd. Arif Ahmed, town president Begagam Madhu, secretary P. Charan, other members accompanied the youth to the hospital.
