MADURAI: Six fishermen from Tuticorin, apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy on April 27, were released on Wednesday. According to U. Arulanandam, Tamil Nadu Representative of the ‘Alliance for the Release of Innocent Fishermen,’ Bastian (22), Vellaichamy (24), Pitchai (22), Sesualangaram (50), Selvam (35) and Anthony (22) of Tuticorin were taken into custody, along with their country boat, when they were fishing near Delft Island. They were lodged in prison, he said.
