Two-day camp for disposal of pending building plan applications

Rampant corruption in sanctioning of building plans, says Mayor Arti Mehra
A time limit of 60 days is also being set for disposal of applications

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will organise a special camp on May 16 and 17 for disposal of pending applications for sanction of building plans. The camp will be organised at the civic body’s office complex near Ambedkar Stadium.

Announcing this, Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra said building by-laws had been framed to ensure planned development in the Capital.

“Residents have to submit building plans in conformation of these by-laws and provisions as codified in the Master Plan for Delhi. Building plans for constructions up to 400 sq. yards in size (residential) are dealt with by the zone concerned while all other types of building plans are to be submitted at the Building Department,” she added.

The Mayor said the civic body had noticed rampant corruption in the system of sanctioning building plans. “There is a need to streamline, rationalise and simplify the procedure of sanctioning these plans. At present there are 261 cases pending at the zonal level while 281 are pending at the headquarters. The special camp has been organised to clear this backlog of cases as all the zones have seen asked to bring pending cases for disposal on the spot,” she added.

To simplify the entire procedure, the Building Departments of all 12 zones have been directed to display the list of documents required for sanction of building plans.

A time limit of 60 days is also being set for disposal of applications and queries or objections are to be conveyed to the applicant within 10-15 days of the receipt of application. The Mayor also advised all residents whose applications are pending to visit the camp with the necessary documents for disposal of the pending matters. The documents required include: Name of the owner; plot number; block number; situated at; copies of plan and statement; proof of ownership; specification in form No.11; supervision certificate; structural stability certificate; rain water harvesting certificate; and no nuisance/malba certificate.

The process of sanctioning of building plans would be made available online shortly and software for this purpose is being developed, the Mayor added.
