Two from Chennai get B.C.Roy Award

CHENNAI: Two of this year’s recipients of the prestigious B.C.Roy Award, given to medical professionals and teachers, hail from Chennai.
While N. Rangabashyam, surgical gastroenterologist, won the award in the Eminent Medical Person category, Meer Mustafa Hussain, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, was chosen in the Eminent Medical Teacher category for 2007.
Continued contribution lauded
Both were commended for their continued contributions in the field of medicine.
Dr. Rangabashyam was first awarded the B.C.Roy Award in 1982 in the category Development of a new Speciality in Medicine.
The awards will be presented at a function in New Delhi on July 1.
