Implementation of NREGP lauded

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Five major steps taken by the State government for implementing the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) in the backward districts in the State has come in for praise at a national workshop in Mussourie.

Minister for Local Self-government Paloli Mohammed Kutty said in a press note here on Wednesday that distribution of wages through banks, implementation exclusively through grama panchayats, thrust on developing land, water and bio-mass, deployment of Kudumabshree workers for supervision and entrusting trained facilitators to organise grama sabhas for implementing the programme will be emulated by other States too.
