Cold storage facility for farmers

MADURAI: Cold storage facility is to be provided for the three farmers’ markets in Madurai district through the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Marketing Board.

According to a press release from the Collector, S. S. Jawahar, the facility will be provided at the farmers’ markets at Anna Nagar, Chokkikulam and Palanganatham, to store fruits and vegetables, at a cost of Rs.18.15 lakh. Each facility, costing Rs.6.05 lakh, will have a capacity to store two tonnes of fruits and vegetables. The Collector said that one more farmers’ market would be started at a cost of Rs.22.35 lakh at Anaiyur this year.
