Public interest litigation petition admitted

MADURAI: The Madras High Court Bench in Madurai on Wednesday admitted a public interest litigation petition filed by a lawyer seeking higher compensation to the family of Warnakulasooriya Canicius Fernando, a Sri Lankan, who was shot dead by a jail warder outside the Central Prison in Madurai on October 5.
Notice ordered
A Division Bench comprising Justice Prafulla Kumar Misra and Justice S. Nagamuthu ordered notice to the State Government to reply to the petition filed by T. Anjaneya Sekar and adjourned the matter after summer vacation which ends on May 8.
