Avinash storms into semifinals

BANGALORE: Qualifier R. Avinash continued his good run in the KSLTA-AITA Talent Series junior tennis championship by advancing into the semifinals with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over second seed S. Supreeth Dev here on Wednesday.

In another upset, Rohan Gaonkar defeated third seed Varun Satyanarayan 6-1, 6-2.

In the boys’ under-12 singles, Evans Mirajkar crushed second seed Mihir Roy Chowdhry 6-0, 6-1 to enter the last eight, while top seed B.R. Nikshep defeated Nischal 6-2, 7-6(2). Two other quarterfinal ties were halted due to bad light.
