AFI announces team

NEW DELHI: The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has selected a five-member team for participation in the IAAF World race walking cup to be held in Cheboksary, Russia, on May 10 and 11.

The athletes will compete in the 50km event in an effort to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.

The qualification marks are: 4:00:00 (‘A’ standard) and 4:07:00 (‘B’).

The team: Chandan Singh, Babubhai Panocha, Harminder Singh, P.S. Jalan and Basant Bahadur Rana.

Coaches: Nikolai Snesarev and Harmana Ram.
