‘Even a good ball can be hit 10 rows back’ ‘The faster you adapt, the quicker you learn’ Kochi: As Harbhajan Singh awaits further trial, and possibly more punishment, for slapping S. Sreesanth recently, the Kerala fast bowler said the incident was a warning for everybody. “Yes, it’s a wake-up call for all individuals,” said Sreesanth here on Wednesday evening. However, he was quick to add that the incident was now history and that he was focusing on the present and the future. So, has he changed his act a bit, fine-tuned things? “If change is good… if it’s good for the team, why not,” said the fiery paceman, throwing quite a few hints. The Kings XI Punjab star made his bowling do all the talking, and walked away with the Man of the Match award, in his last DLF-Indian Premier League game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday. Twenty20 has often been termed as a batsman’s paradise, and a bowler’s graveyard, but the Sreesanth would like to term it as “a cricketer’s cricket.” “It’s unbelievable…everything depends on the day,” said the 25-year-old. “And things change so fast…look how Sohail Tanvir got his six wickets, how I got two in one over. But sometimes, even a good ball can be hit 10 rows back of the ground. The faster you adapt, the quicker you learn.” Strangely, he does not think that cricket’s youngest version is all that small. “We still have 120 balls, it’s actually a long game.” Sreesanth, who will be fighting Chennai Super Kings next on Saturday, was in Kochi to interact with, and encourage, young players at the Muthoot ECC summer coaching camp at the Edapally Government Higher Secondary School Ground. “This is the place where I started, where I learned all my aggression playing with seniors…where I belong,” said the young man.
