CHANDIGARH: Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has been advised complete bed rest for at least two weeks. Doctors attending on him restricted his movements after he complained of dizziness on Tuesday evening. Renowned orthopaedic surgeon Gurdeep Singh, who diagnosed the ailment as cervical spondylosis, said Capt. Singh had had the problem for quite some time and had a similar attack last year as well. He would receive the next course of treatment, which may include sessions of traction, at his residence in the Moti Bagh Palace in Patiala city. Capt. Singh’s present condition appears to have been aggravated by exertion during his recent tour of Punjab villages where Congress party workers faced “persecution” at the hands of the present Badal regime. Also he had been spending long hours completing his third book related to the military history of the Anglo-Sikh wars of the 19th Century. He had planned to complete the writing by the end of this week. The former Chief Minister has been away from active politics primarily because of medical treatment he had been receiving in England for restricted blood flow in the renal arteries. He had to undergo a series of surgical procedures, including stenting.
