HYDERABAD: A task force has been created to keep a check on the illegal industrial dumping and releases into nalas leading to Hussainsagar lake and its surroundings. The decision was taken at the joint meeting on Hussain Sagar Lake and Catchment Area Improvement Project held here on Wednesday at HUDA Complex, Tarnaka. Member Secretary, APPCB, Rajeshwar Tiwari, HUDA Vice-Chairman K.S. Jawahar Reddy, HMWS&SB Managing Director G. Asok Kumar, GHMC Engineer-in-Chief P. Panduranga Rao and project officers and consultants attended the meeting. Mr. Rajesh Tiwary said that based on the report from the Task Force, severe action would be initiated against the concerned. The meeting decided that the Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board would take up the improvement and cleaning of the Interception and Diversions (I&D) structures and conveying mains by diverting the excess sewage to control the waste water flows into Hussainsagar. The GHMC would take up the desilting of four nalas leading to the lake and nala demarcation and improvement of Kukatpally nala is in progress. The NJS Consultants of Hussain Sagar Clean Up Project were told to study the quick methods and their implementation systems for the improvement of sewage in nala through bio-remediation methods.
