BANGALORE: On the occasion of Basava Jayanthi, Governor Rameshwar Thakur has extended greetings to the people of Karnataka. Mr. Thakur said Basaveshwara sought to bring about social change against obscurantism and ushered in a social order of compassion, freedom of spirit, equality and reason. “Let his teachings inspire us to rise above narrow loyalties and parochial interests so as to bring about an enlightened citizenry of enduring amity, equality, justice and fellowship,” Mr. Thakur said in his message. — Staff Reporter
