Naval Dockyard in super league

VISAKHAPATNAM: Naval Dockyard qualified for the super league of VDCA institutions league, after it scored a narrow three-run win over APSRTC in the preliminary league at the ACA-VDCA stadium ‘B’ ground here on Wednesday.

J.K.M. Raju slammed 70 runs (6x4, 3x6) in Dockyard’s total of 157 and Ravindra and A. Krishna Rao claimed four wickets to stop APSRTC run. Madhu Babu’s all-round show (three wickets and 56 runs) went in vain for APSRTC.

Dockyard along with HPCL, HSBC and Cargo Handlers Pool will play the super league from May 10.

The scores: Naval Dockyard 157 in 29.1 overs (JKM Raju 70) bt APSRTC 154 for eight in 30 overs (Madhu Babu 56, Ravindra four for 57, A. Krishna Rao four for 77).

Materials Organisation 161 in 25.2 overs (P.V.S.S. Kumar 53) lost to LIC 165 for seven in 29.3 overs (Jayachandra Reddy 43, Chittibabu 41). — Special Correspondent
