KOLLAM: Minister for Water Resources N.K. Premachandran has said that in the globalised era, competition has become the key to survival. He was inaugurating ‘Evoke ‘08,’ an international seminar on customer relationship management organised by the Marketing Executives Club of the MSN Institute of Management here on Thursday. Mr. Premachandran said that though policy wise he was opposed to globalisation, it had to be admitted that globalisation and the accompanying competition had become a reality. Role of managementThis had resulted in management emerging as a significant aspect of day to day life. Even when it came to addressing food shortage, proper management tactics could provide the formula on how to utilise available food grains in an equitable manner. But unfortunately, development was still considered as a process achieved through the systematic destruction of the environment. The immediate impact of this destruction was natural calamities. Mr. Premachandran said that as Minister for Water Resources, he had to state with concern that even the quality of water was becoming a problem. Though people had moved from well water to tap water and even to bottled water, the fact remained that a good quantity of the bottled water too was contaminated.The inaugural function was presided over by K.S. Chandrashekar, director of the Centre of Management Education and Entrepreneurship Development. Tina Parsons, director of City-Country Communcations, New York, addressed. Principal of the MSN Institute of Management N. Rajagopalan welcomed the gathering.
