Single window system will ensure order: CPI

KASARAGOD: The State government’s decision to implement a single window system for admissions to higher secondary courses is an effort to bring a semblance of order to the functioning of schools in the State and to end corruption, CPI State assistant secretary C.N. Chandran has said.

Inaugurating a State-level study camp of the All Kerala School Teachers’ Union at District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Maippady, here on Thursday, Mr. Chandran said the single window system would also ensure social justice.

He said that some communal organisations in the State had been raising a hue and cry over the reforms being implemented by the LDF government in the education sector. Those people belonged to a group which considered education as a profit-making enterprise. But the LDF government would not bow its head before such groups. Though the LDF did not want to injure the feelings of any section, the government was determined to rectify the faults. Mr. Chandran pointed out that several CBSE schools were operating in the State flouting all norms. They had little concern for the education qualifications of the teachers and their service and wage conditions. Several schools following the CBSE syllabus did not have permission to conduct the Class X examinations and students studying there needed special sanction to sit for examinations. Despite all this, several parents were lured into sending their children to such schools, he added.
