Record rice bags supplied: Joint Collector

Special Correspondent

KADAPA: Joint Collector M. Girijasankar pulled up civil supplies mandal stock point officials on Thursday for failing to ensure rice supply by May 2, although release orders were issued on April 28 and 29.

Consequent upon introduction of Rs. 2 a kg rice, the government stipulated rice supply to all white ration card holders on the first of every month, but officials failed to do so, he remarked at a meeting with enforcement deputy tahsildars and stock point in charges here.

“Discharge work adhering to the government guidelines or quit,” Mr. Girijasankar told officials.

Essential commodities requisitioned by the fair price shop dealers should be supplied in one spell, he said. Irregularities came to his notice when commodities were supplied in two to three spells earlier, he said. Stock point officials would be held responsible if such irregularities recurred, Mr. Girijasankar warned.

He said many instances of officials maintaining ‘dummy’ records came to his notice, he directed Food Corporation of India officials to inspect the mandal stock points and verify the original records.

FCI officials, enforcement deputy tahsildars and mandal stock point in charges participated.
