Struggle for social justice will prevail, says Ramadoss

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Pattali Makkal Katchi leader S. Ramadoss on Thursday expressed the hope that the AIIMS Amendment Act 2007, struck down by the Supreme Court, would be suitably amended and passed by Parliament, as had been done in the case of many such Acts.

Reacting to the Supreme Court order, holding the Act aimed at fixing the terms of Directors of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences “discriminatory,” Dr. Ramadoss said the entire country knew that it was Dr. Venugopal who instigated agitations in the AIIMS against 27 per cent reservation, despite the Supreme Court direction against protests inside the campus.

“Not surprised by clamour”

“I am not surprised by the noise made by the anti-reservation lobby in support of Dr. Venugopal. The struggle for social justice has overcome so many obstacles. It will prevail,” he said in a statement.
