THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prominent writers in the language have called upon all sections of people to support the government scheme to renovate the houses constructed under the One Lakh Housing Scheme pioneered by the late M.N. Govindan Nair. In a joint statement here on Thursday, the writers pointed out that most of the houses constructed under the scheme were now in a state of disrepair and needed urgent attention. Lauding the government for having drawn up the ‘MN One Lakh Houses Renovation Scheme’, the writers said the scheme should inspire all those who loved humanity. It should be seen as an opportunity to serve the poor, they added. The signatories to the statement were M.T. Vasudevan Nair, O.N.V. Kurup, Sugathakumari, P. Valsala, C. Radhakrishnan, George Onakkur, P. Govinda Pillai, N.A. Kareem, Puthussery Ramachandran, D. Babu Paul, P.K. Gopi and Ashtamurthy.
