Singapore Airlines hikes fares

BANGALORE: Singapore Airlines (SA) will increase its fuel surcharge for tickets issued on or after May 12 due to rise in the price of jet fuel in recent months.

The price of jet fuel has increased sharply in recent weeks, and is now over $140 per barrel, said a release from SA.

The new levels of surcharge will apply to Singapore Airlines and SilkAir flights as follows: on regional routes, US $35 per sector; for flights between Singapore and ASEAN countries, $150 per sector; and $95 per sector on all other flights.
