‘Indecision by EC regretted’

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy said he regretted the “indecision” by the Election Commission on the Government’s request to permit implementation of Rythu Chaitanya Yatras (RCY) in the 10 districts where by-elections are being held.

At a press conference here on Thursday, the Minister said the Commission kept its decision pending when there was an urgent need to clear the RCY as the kharif season was only a month away.

The Government had already announced a schedule to conduct the RCY from May 17 to June 3 as part of its on-going programme to educate farmers on modern techniques.

He appealed to the Commission to reconsider the decision.
