Thousands witness ‘Chempeduppu’

Ritual of faith: The ‘Chempeduppu’ ceremony held as part of the annual festival at St. George Orthodox Church at Chandanappally, near Pathanamthitta, on Thursday.
PATHANAMTHITTA: The ‘Chempeduppu’ ceremony of the annual festival at St. George Orthodox Church at Chandanappally, near here, was held with religious fervour on Thursday.
Thousands of believers thronged the church to witness the annual event.
Malankara Metropolitan and Catholicos of the East Moran Mar Baselius Mar Thoma Didymos I was the chief celebrant of the tri-mass held at the church in the forenoon.
Paulose Mar Pachomios and Youhanon Mar Milithios were co-celebrants. The Catholicos inaugurated the pilgrims’ meet held later on the church premises.
Prasar Bharati Director George Varghese was felicitated at the meeting.
