This Day That Age
The view that civil aviation would not become a really commercial proposition for some more years to come, till the people of the country became air-minded was expressed by the Minister for Communications, Mr. S.K. Patil, in the Lok Sabha on May 7. After paying his tribute to the fine record of service of Air India International, which, he said, was considered one of the best in the world and proved by the fact of its being patronised by many foreign passengers, Mr. Patil went on to explain the working of IAC. While air travel had become a necessity and not a luxury, still it would take many more years before people could become air-minded. Then only would they be able to make civil aviation a really commercial proposition.
