Corrections and clarifications

In a report “Fast breeder: generating power at 40 paise/unit less” (“Science & Technology” page, May 8, 2008), a pointer in the accompanying infobox was “The current cost of power from PFBR is 3.22 paise/unit”. It should have been Rs.3.22/unit.

The first paragraph in a report “Steel producers to roll back prices” (“Business” page, May 8, 2008) said “Leading primary steel producers on Wednesday conceded that the surge in steel prices was fuelling the inflationary spiral and volunteered to roll back prices of flat products by Rs.4,000 a tonne while reducing the prices of reinforcement bars and structurals by Rs.2,000 a tonne”, while a sentence in the fourth paragraph said “… Major steel producers have decided to reduce prices of flat products by Rs.6,000 per tonne and prices of rebars and structural steel by Rs.2,000 a tonne and hold these prices for [the] next three months.” An item “Steel to cost less” (“Briefly”, May 8, 2008, page 1) said “Leading steel producers on Wednesday offered to reduce prices of hot rolled coils by Rs.4,000 a tonne. This is a part of the efforts to ease inflation.” The Business Desk clarifies that it should have been by Rs.4000 a tonne, and not Rs.6,000 a tonne as published.
