Convict arrested after 27 years

Muzaffarnagar: A life convict, who escaped from the district prison 27 years ago, has been arrested by the police and brought back to the prison.

Afzal, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder in 1981, escaped soon after being awarded the punishment by a local court and had been living in Bihar since then, police sources said on Thursday. He was arrested on Wednesday. He will now serve the remainder of his term, police said.
