Lucknow: With the Mayawati-led BSP Government in Uttar Pradesh due to complete one year in office on May 13, the State Congress is preparing a charge-sheet to seek details on the manner in which it had been utilising central funds. The U.P. Congress is preparing a detailed account of the central fundings and its spendings by the State Government, party sources said. ‘Spending not satisfactory’“In the past one year, the Union Government provided funds up to Rs.36,000 crore under various heads but its spending has not been satisfactory,” sources said, adding that the party would be presenting the head wise spendings as well as the amount lying unutilised or went down the drain following its misuse. “Through this charge-sheet we would be exposing the real face of the government which would be claiming huge success in its one year tenure,” they said. We will counter the government claims with figures in regard to law and order situation, works done in various sectors including rural development, health and education as well as implementation of national rural employment guarantee schemes, they added. Charge-sheetThis detailed charge-sheet would be formally presented before the people by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Rita Bahuguna Joshi soon, sources said. The State Government had been continuously charging the Congress-led Central Government with ignoring the state’s demand for special packages, specially for Bundelkhand and Purvanchal. The Congress has already launched a “hisab mango ” (social audit) campaign to question the government on misuse of central funds, the sources added.- PTI
