Civil surgeon arrested for ‘taking bribe’
Patna: The civil surgeon of Sheohar district was on Thursday arrested by the State Vigilance Bureau for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 28,000 while Rs 67,000 cash, documents of fixed deposit worth Rs 10 lakh, ten bank accounts and other investments in shares were seized from his residence in Sitamarhi district.
Talking to reporters here, Additional DGP (Vigilance) Neelmani said a vigilance team from Patna arrested Panchanan Prasad from his residence in the morning when he was allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 28,000 from the Secretary of an NGO to clear its bills, vigilance sources said
The civil surgeon had allegedly demanded money from Muzaffar Imam, secretary of Mahashweta Manav Seva Kalyan Samiti, hired by the Government for maintenance of a generator of the sub-divisional hospital here.PTI
