CHENNAI: The first regional finals of the University of Cambridge ESOL `Best Speaker of Business English Competition’ (BEC) would be held on Saturday at the British Council on Anna Salai with 20 top students from the three levels taking part. According to a press release, these students, from 38 colleges in south India, who had participated in the BEC examination held in September and November last year, would give prepared presentations, improvised speeches and answer questions from the panel of judges. Another regional final round would be held in August in the city. The top four winners selected from both the regional rounds would take part in an all India national final competition. The winners of the national competition would take part in the international competition to be held in Singapore in November. The international winners would get a scholarship to do an MBA course in Singapore, short courses in London, UK and Perth, Australia. On Saturday, the regional finals would start 1 p.m. and the prize distribution would be held at 5 p.m.
