KOCHI: Minister for Youth Welfare M. Vijayakumar has said that activities of the Youth Welfare Board will be extended to the panchayat level. Speaking at the inauguration of the valedictory session of the Youth Forum 2008, the minister said the draft Youth Policy has forwarded suggestions like forming advisory bodies at the district and State levels, giving statutory powers to the Board and forming Youth Commission to coordinate the activities for youth welfare. The draft Youth Policy will be finalised and presented during the next Assembly session. Minister for Transport Mathew T. Thomas presided and actor Dileep delivered the keynote address. Former Supreme Court judge V.R. Krishna Iyer, the chief guest, urged the youth to unite beyond political biases and come forward to fight for constitutional duties of democracy, socialism and secularism.
