Brahmakalasa festival to conclude today

KASARAGOD: The Brahmakalasa festival at Ananthapadmanabha temple, Ananthapura, near Kumbla, in the district will conclude on Saturday with traditional rites.

The temple is believed to be the original abode of Sree Padmanabha, the presiding deity at Sree Padmanabhaswami temple, Thiruvananthapuram. Thousands of people from Kerala and Karnataka participated in the festival which began on April 30. The festival is being held on the occasion of the consecration of a new idol. The Brahmakalasa Abhishekam would be held at 5 a.m. on Saturday, followed by Parikalasha Abhishekam. A classical music recital would be held at 9 a.m. and a cultural meeting in the evening. D. Veerendra Hegde, head of Dharmasthala pilgrim centre, Karnataka, would be the chief guest at the meeting. Shribhootha Bali would be held in the evening. A fire works display would mark the conclusion.
