Srikakulam: The differences in the district unit of the TDP once again came to the fore at its general body meeting held here on Friday. President of the district unit and party MLA, Gouthu Shyamsundar Sivaji, who presided expressed unhappiness over the lack of response from the cadre. The absence of prominent leaders like Kinjarapu Yerrannaidu, MP, Kimidi Kalavenkatas Rao and Kalamata Mohana Rao, both MLAs, Pratibha Bharathi, former Speaker, was conspicuous. Only two other MLAs Kinjarapu Acheyya Naidu and Kalamata Jogulu were present. According to insiders, it was an important meeting and nearly 400 members were expected to attend, but not more than 150 had turned up. Party in charge of the district, Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary had also failed to turn up. Party observer Rama Rao called upon the leaders to ‘forget internecine differences’ and work unitedly. Elections were fast approaching and it would be difficult to face them without unity in the party. The unity among the leader and cadre when the party was the need of the hour, Mr.Rama Rao said. Other speakers who included Tammineni Sitaram also stressed the importance of unity and coordination in the party. the party decided to organize maha dharna against increasing prices of essential commodities.
