Government school students put up a good show

The pass percentage is over 85 in 81 Govt-run institutions


Among the Government run institutions, R. Parthiban has won the first rank with 1134 marks

Success stories : R.Parthiban, of Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Kavindapady, stands first with 1134 marks, P. Senthil, of Government Higher Secondary School, Pudhupalayam, Appakoodal stands second with 1133 marks and C. Gowthami, of Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Sivagiri, holds third rank with 1130 marks in the Plus Two examination among Government School students in Erode district.

ERODE: No less than their self financed and private school counterparts are Government school students, who have put up a good show in the Plus Two examinations, the results of which were declared on Friday.

In the 81 Government-run institutions, which include municipal schools, the pass percentage has been over 85. The 38 Government schools in Erode education district have topped the list with 87.91 per cent.

Next only to the schools, are those in Gobichettipalayam . 37 schools have a pass percentage of 86.16. Among the Government run institutions R. Parthiban of Government Boys’ Hr. Sec. School, Kavindapadi has won the first rank with 1134 marks.

The son of a head constable aspires to pursue mechanical engineering from Anna University, Chennai. Sharing the first spot with Mr. Parthiban is G. Vinoth of Government Higher Secondary School, Perundurai. Close behind him with 1133 marks is P. Senthil of Government Hr. Sec. School, Puduppalayam, near Appakoodal.

Son of a handloom worker, the boy aspires to pursue medicine. He says he does not have the means, though, and is dependent on Government for help.

Aspirations

With three marks behind him is the district third rank holder, C. Gowthami of Government Girls’ Hr. Sec. School, Sivagiri.

She studied hard to bag the rank, says the daughter of an electrical contractor. She aspires to be an engineer.
