‘Parties neglecting environmental aspects’

SIRSI: Major political parties in Uttara Kannada have not included environmental aspects in their election manifestoes, environmental organisations such as Vrakshalaksha Andolan, Save Western Ghats organisation, Samagra Vikas, Uttara Kannada Parisara Samiti, Gram Bharati of Hosnagar, Prajadhikar Vedike of Uttara Kannada have said. In a press release issued here, they have said the Western Ghats in Uttara Kannada is known for its fragile biodiversity. The organisations have stated that projects, including Kaiga nuclear plant and Sea Bird, have led to the reduction in the forest cover of the district.
