Namakkal district records impressive performance

NAMAKKAL: The Namakkal district has registered an impressive performance in the higher secondary examinations held in March 2008, with 91.6 per cent of the students emerging successful.
Three students from Namakkal schools emerged as State toppers.
R. Dharani of Vidhyaa Vikas Girls Higher Secondary School, Varahoorampatti, secured 1182 marks to bag the first rank in the State. S. Thalabathik Kumara Vikram from Vidhyaa Vikas Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Varahoorampatti, bagged second place with 1181 marks.
K. Deepa of SRV Girls HSS, Rasipuram, emerged as the third rank holder in the State with 1180 marks.
Out of 19,046 students appeared, 17,449 students passed with flying colours. Girls outperformed the boys this year too. When 93 per cent girls were successful, pass percentage of boys was 90.5.
The pass percentage of Government schools was 85.9. In the Government schools category, G. Damodaran of Pallipalayam Government Boys GHSS secured the first place with 1140 marks. The second place went to V. Mohanraj of R.Puthupalayam GHSS (1139 marks) and third rank to R. Sukanya of Namakkal Government Girls HSS (1127 marks).
The Adi Dravida and Tribal welfare schools registered 75.1 per cent of result this year.
