TIRUPATI: Listing out the series of developmental activities to make the city a better dwelling place, the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has requested the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) to provide Rs.14 crore as financial assistance. The proposals included Rs. 8 crore for a multi-storied parking plaza, Rs.2.85 crore towards widening of the railway station road, Rs.90 lakh for development of Narasimha Theertham tank as a water body and modernisation of . Guenter Dresruesse, Country Director (India) of the GTZ, who was here on an inspection on Friday, saw for himself the various projects referred to in the proposals and commended the civic body for maintenance of . However, he was taken aback to see the open drains adjacent to the railway station and the nearby areas frequented by thousands of pilgrims everyday. MCT Commissioner P. Mohan Reddy briefed him on the ongoing developmental works and need of additional funds to complete them on time.
