HUBLI: Over 100 employees of the Materials Management Department of South Western Railway (SWR) were awarded cash and certificates in recognition of their services during the 53rd Railway Week celebrations held at the Railway Officers Club here on Wednesday. Railway WeekWhile 64 employees were given cash and merit certificates, 37 employees were awarded the GM’s Special Group cash award of Rs. 10,000 for surpassing the Scrap Sales Target of Rs. 66 crore fixed by Railway Board. The awards were given away by Controller of Stores, SWR, Vijay P. Meshram, who also inaugurated the Railway Week celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Meshram congratulated all the awardees for their contribution to the organisation and for the achievement of 96 per cent of the targets set by the Board. AchievementsDeputy Chief Materials Manager P.B. Ninawe briefed the gathering on the achievements of the Materials Management Department during 2007-08. Later, a cultural troupe comprising officers and staff of the department put up a cultural performance. The troupe also presented a skit on the life of Buddha.
