Says BJP will offer them at an interest rate of three per cent ‘State Government will bear the cost arising out of the change’ KAMPLI (BELLARY DISTRICT): Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushma Swaraj has appealed to voters here to support the party and ensure that it forms the next government. She urged them to punish the Congress for its inability to control inflation. Addressing an election meeting in Kampli town on Friday, Ms. Swaraj recounted the novel schemes introduced by B.S. Yeddyurappa while he was Finance Minister. Contrasting them with the budgets presented by Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, she said the common man had had a big price to pay under Congress rule. “If the BJP is voted to power, farm loans will be given at an interest rate of three per cent. The proposed rate of interest will not be limited to cooperative banks/societies, but will also be extended to all commercial banks, for the benefit of farmers. The difference in the interest rate will be borne by the State Government,” she said. Recalling her association with Bellary, Ms. Swaraj claimed that after her party had taken charge of the local bodies, three Assembly seats and the Lok Sabha seat, the district had been transformed. She told the people that similar developments would continue if the BJP returned to power. Earlier, the former Minister B. Sriramulu; G. Janardhan Reddy, MLC; and BJP candidate for Kampli Suresh Babu promised to accord priority for the development of Kampli and surrounding areas. Ms. Swaraj addressed gatherings at Sirguppa, Hagari Bommanahalli and Hadagali before leaving for Bangalore.
