BHEL- AP Genco to sign MoU in Vizag today It will have an installed capacity of 125 MW
HYDERABAD: The first integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power project will come up at Vijayawada Thermal Power Station with an installed capacity of 125 MW.
The BHEL, which pioneered IGCC technology in the country, and AP Genco will sign an MoU at Visakhapatnam on Saturday in the presence of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to set up this project.
An official said the plant would use gas as fuel obtained from coal.
This technology will reduce pollution and curtail water consumption by the plant by 40 per cent.
The BHEL initiated IGCC technology in 1983, starting with a 6.2-MW plant at Tiruchirapalli.
The Government is backing this technology for its various advantages.
