KOCHI: P.C. George, MLA, has urged Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan not to get into a pact with Elanjickal group, which has proposed to revive Travancore Rayons in Perumbavur. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. George said that the government should probe the charges levelled against some of the earlier business ventures made by the promoters before going ahead with the revival plan. He alleged that the proposed promoter was not interested in the revival of the Travancore Rayons but had other plans like setting up IT parks at the company site. Explaining that there was a move to sell off the company equipment at very low prices, Mr. George said that the government should not support proposals that would not serve the interests of the company’s employees. Denying reports that he was trying to sabotage the proposal, he said that the government should immediately consider a report submi- tted by a task force committee that had recommended a viable alternative for the revival of the company.
