Gowda forced to leave Hassan

HASSAN: High drama prevailed at the residence of former Rajya Sabha member H.K. Javare Gowda at Vidyanagar here where Janata Dal (S) president H.D. Deve Gowda stayed for a few hours on Friday. The former Prime Minister finally left for Holenarsipur at 4.30 p.m.

As per the Election Commission guidelines, all political leaders must leave the constituencies after campaigning for the first phase of polling ended. Mr. Deve Gowda is a voter in Holenarsipur constituency.

Mr. Gowda arrived here at 12.45 p.m. Congress and BJP leaders complained to Deputy Commissioner Anjum Parvez, who is also the district election officer, about it. Mr. Parvez spoke to Chief Electoral Officer M.N. Vidyashankar who said that Mr. Gowda should not be allowed into Hassan.
