‘Farmers should expect price fluctuation’

KOCHI: Rubber farmers should not forget that they could face a reversal of the present trend in the rubber prices. Not long ago, the farmers were running from pillar to post to ensure remunerative prices for the commodity, said G.K.Pillai, Union Commerce Secretary. He was addressing the valedictory session of the international conference on natural rubber and development here on Friday. Commodity prices were subject to cyclical changes.

Recession, diseases and reduced demand could affect the prices.

The farmers should not be under the impression that the current prices would last long.
