Majestic CC in last eight

Madurai: Majestic Cricket Club and Spark Cricket Club entered the semifinals of the T.V. Ramachandran Memorial Trophy district-level Twenty20 cricket tournament, defeating Pykara Cricket Club by 25 runs and Babu Cricket Academy by 15 runs respectively, here on Friday.

The scores: Quarterfinals: Majestic CC 110 for nine in 20 overs (Chandrasekar 30 n.o., Sethuraman three for 20) bt Pykara CC 85 in 18.1 overs; Spark CC 114 for nine in 20 overs (Inbarasan three for 26) bt Babu CA 99 for nine in 20 overs (Kumar four for 20); Pre-quarterfinals: TVS Srichakra Tyres 102 for eight in 20 overs (Subramaniya Siva 47, Vimal three for 21) lost to Rising Sun CC 106 for seven in 17.5 overs (Vimal 37 n.o., Thakeer three for eight); Asian Sports CC 146 for seven in 20 overs (Sundar 42 n.o., Ashok 25, Karthik 36) bt TVS Aparajitha CC 107 for nine in 20 overs (Sonai three for 22).

Senthil’s five-wicket haul helped Chennai PDI score a three-wicket win over Coimbatore Cosmo Village and enter the semifinals of the fourth State-level cricket tournament in Cuddalore on Friday.

The scores: Quarterfinals: Coimbatore Cosmo Village 111 in 24.3 overs (Shajahan 43, Senthil five for 16) lost to Chennai PDI 114 for seven in 21.4 overs; Cuddalore District Cricket Academy 158 for six in 25 overs (Ayyanar 45) lost to Mandharakuppam CC 162 for five in 23.2 overs (Babu 48, Viji 41).

Pre-quarterfinals: Chennai PDI 199 for seven in 25 overs (Sreeram 65) bt Erode CC 97 in 20 overs; Coimbatore Cosmo Village 192 for five in 25 overs (Shajahan 75) bt Ramesh Flower 119 in 19.4 overs.
