Students from Karur schools outshine with State ranks

KARUR: Students from Karur district schools coveted glory in English, Tamil, Banking, Botany, Zoology, Arabic and Fashion Designing bagging State ranks in those subjects in the Plus Two exams, results of which were announced on Friday.

B. Gayathri of Bharani Park Matriculation Higher Secondary School scored 195 out of 200 in English to walk away with the top honours in the subject in the State. Her aggregate of 1177 helped her bag the highest marks in the district. Daughter of Bhaskaran, a clerk with textile export firm, and Lalitha, a housewife, Ms. Gayathri said that the encouragement given by her teachers and parents spurred her on to make it big in English. She wanted to pursue Electronics and Communication Engineering course in Anna University. She also expressed her desire to learn as many languages as possible.

B. Mohana Priya of the Cheran Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vennamalai, here has bagged the State Second rank in Tamil scoring 197 in the language. Stating that her natural affinity and love for Tamil had led her to the top, she too attributed her success to teachers and parents. Ms. Priya’s interest lies in medicine. Her father M. Bhaskaran is a dyes and chemicals dealer while her mother Kalpana is a housewife. She has a tally of 1166.

In Arabic language, K.S. Shaheena Nikmat of Uzzwatun Hasana Oriental Arabic Girls Higher Secondary School, Pallappatti, has come out with flying colours in getting the first rank in the State scoring 194 out of 200.

In the Banking and Accountancy Group, A. Sudha of St. Teresa Girls Higher Secondary School, Gandhigram, bagged the Third rank in the State getting 184 out of 200. Her parents P. Arumugam and Rani run a modest Tiffin stall in Gandhigram area. Ms. Sudha singled out her Accountancy teacher Usha for praise while acknowledging the support and care extended by other teachers and parents. Nazreen Laila Bhanu of Uzzwatun Hazana has come out trumps winning the top honours in the State in Fashion Designing subject scoring 578.

Her classmate M. Zulfiqar Tahseen bagged the Third rank in the State in the same subject scoring 573.

K.A. Shamita Afreen of Uzzwatun Hazana bagged the Third rank in the State in Botany and Zoology scoring 200 and 198 respectively.
