Nudged boys out of reckoning to take the top three spots

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Virudhunagar district girls not only outnumbered the boys in overall pass percentage, but also denied the boys an opportunity to stand in the top three slots.

N. Ezhil of P.S. Chidambara Nadar Girls’ Higher Secondary school, Virudhunagar, topped the district with 1,168 marks. She was closely followed by three girls, M. Sivasankari and L. Sitalakshmi of P.A.C.R.R. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Rajapalayam, and S. Subadharani of Y.R.T.V. Matriculation Higher Secondary school, Sivakasi.

All the three students got 1,167 marks each.

Malathi, of A.V.M. Higher Secondary School, Vilampatti, secured the third place with a total of 1,165 marks.

While 96.96 percentage out of 8,187 girls, who appeared for the examination passed out, only 94.68 percentage of 7,490 boys succeeded.

Out of the two educational district, Aruppukottai registered an impressive 96.73 pass percentage as against 95.50 percentage recorded by Virudhunagar educational district.

“No school in Aruppukottai Educational district has secured less than 85 percentage success rate,” the Chief Educational Officer, S. Nagaraja Murgan said.

Eight State ranks

The district secured eight State ranks, including three first positions. While S. Muruganantham of MCNUPDA higher secondary school, Chinnayapuram, got first rank in History with 200 marks, M. Meenatchi of KRTA Government highers secondary school, Thayilpatti, stood first in Crop Production (592 out of 600 marks) and S. Selvagayathri of Kshtriya Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Virudhunagar, got first in Dress Design and Making with Home Science.

Second Ranks: R. Boominathan of Hajee PSM Higher secondary (200) secured the second place in Botany, S. Sanjeevi Thai, of SSHN Higher Secondary School, Muhavur, got it in Accountancy and Auditing (600). M. Thasneem Banu of SHNV Higher secondary school, Sivakasi, bagged the second rank in Office Secretaryship with Accountancy

The students of NA Annapparaja Memorial Higher secondary school, Rajapalayam, — S. Vigenshwaran (596), M. Ahamadanas (585) and M. Mariappan (583) — got the first three ranks in the State in Maintenance and Servicing Textile Machinery.
